I was commissioned by the Little Monk, a Belgian and Germanrestaurant and bar in Horsforth, Leeds to design and paint a series of murals around the building including a 'Little Monk' character .
My first task on this project was to create a 'Little Monk' character based on the Trappist Monks who brewed the Belgian beers. We wanted to create a cute and cheeky character, who would be fun for customers to have selfies with. We named him Pierre!
I then painted Pierre onto the walls of restaurant in various locations.
I also designed and painted an Abbey, to fit in with the Belgian theme. The Trappist Belgian beers were brewed in abbeys to this helped give context to how the beers were brewed.
The Abbey design painted in the seating booth, can you spot tiny Pierre?

A Toilet sign, using the same style of the monks hand with a script like font

I later designed a full length Pierre shown holding a St Feuillien beer, as the restaurant sells a large range from this brewery
I then painted the full length Pierre onto the walls of the restaurant. In height he is about as tall as me!
I painted a map of Belgium and Germany so we could show case to customers the range of beers on offer and the locations they were brewed. This is a work in progress as as the bar gets more beers we can add more bottle caps to the map.
A close up of the map details and the bottle caps. It took much reserach to ensure all the cities and rivers were in the correct locations, and to fit the bottle caps as close to the location of brewing as possible.
Pierre even has his own beer Pierre's Pale which is on permanent draft at the restaurant feature my character design!
I also designed some merch featuring Pierre, shown are some christmas cards and some stickers!
